AWANA
What is it?
AWANA stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed and is a premier program that changes the lives of youth. It is one of the leading ministries to help local churches and parents raise children and youth to know, love and serve Christ. Impacting kids ages 2-18, AWANA blends Bible teaching, evangelism, Scripture memorization with tons of fun.
Calvary's AWANA ministry takes place during the fall and spring, and is a great way for youth to get involved for the majority of the year. This ministry encourages parents and volunteers, and makes the children's and youth ministry all that God intends them to be!

Faith Sunday School
What is it?
Faith Sunday school is about discovering truths from the bible that speak to real life problems today! Our age-graded classes are designed fro those who desire to meet with others who share similar life needs ad challenges while providing opportunities for sharing and prayer. Our teachers and leaders use the bible as the core curriculum. Our goal and mission is to make disciples for Christ by causing each student to learn and produce Christ-like character and conduct in each student's daily walk. Calvary offers seven children-youth-teen classes that are designed to meet the needs of both the believer and unbeliever.
When: Sunday from 8:30 a.m. - 9:45 a.m.

Halikah Praise Dance Ministry
This is one exciting and electrifying dance ministries at CEBC! All girls in 4th - 12th grade are encouraged to participate in this ministry. Because Scripture states to "let them praise His name in the dance..." (Psalm 149:3), it is important for youth to use dance as a means of giving God praise.
When: Every Saturday 1:30 p.m.

What is it?

Kings Dominion Excursion
What is it?
It is one of Virginia's premier themed amusement parks located just outside of Richmond, Virginia. This 400 acre amusement park offers a full day of fun with more than 50 rides, 14 roller coasters, live family entertainment, and a 19-acre water park. Kings Dominion is known to have some of the best roller coasters on the east coast, and is one of the youth's most anticipated events. Calvary's middle and high school students will have the opportunity this summer to take part in this annual adventure.

Thanksgiving Baskets
What is it?
Calvary's annual Thanksgiving Baskets is a way for the church to give back and serve less fortunate families during the holiday. This evangelistic outreach always takes place the weekend before Thanksgiving. On Friday evening, food baskets are assembled at Calvary and on Saturday the baskets are delivered. Last year, over 200 baskets were distributed to families in both Portsmouth and Chesapeake. This ministry outreach is always in need of volunteers both Friday and Saturday, so set your calendar today to assist the church during this exciting time of the year.

The "Lock In" Adventure
What is it?
This is the much anticipated event in which teenagers all over Hampton Roads will come together in Christian environment to experience clean fun during the early hours of the morning. This is one instance in which parents will not mind having their teenager 'lock-up" up for a good cause. With many activities including basketball, dodge-ball, and swimming, these teenagers will not find time for boredom.

True Love Waits
What is it?
True Love Waits is one of several approaches to challenging teenagers to make a commitment to sexual abstinence until marriage. This youth-based international campaign utilizes positive peer pressure by encouraging those who make a commitment to refrain from pre-marital sex to challenge their peers to do the same. CEBC will unite with the community for an awesome four week conference. The conference will conclude with a Ceremony of Commitment.

UdaMan Ministries
What is it?
UdaMan Ministries is a non-profit ministry established to help foster and develop today's young black males into mature in adult, godly young men. Birthed from non-profit Urban Awareness, USA under the leadership of author and speaker Tracy J. Brown, they work in conjunction to help urban and faith-based communities throughout the United States.
When: 2nd Wednesday of every month

Vacation Bible School
What is it?
It is an in-depth thematic study that allows youth and adults of all ages to learn God's Word. This is an opportunity for Calvary to reach out into the surrounding communities and to invite the unsaved to come to church. It is opened to non-members and transportation is provided for certain communities. The activities include arts and craft, classroom activities, and class interaction. Snacks will be provided at the end of each night. Mark your calendar for this exciting event.

Wednesday Night Bible Study
What is it?
Calvary’s Wednesday night Bible studies for youth are known for its practical insight and thorough learning of God's Word. It is an opportunity for youth to discuss practical issues and how to apply God's Word to every situation in life. There are appropriate classes for each age group, and all youth are encouraged to come out each week and participate in this exciting study of God's Word.
When: Wednesday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for ages 13-18 and from
7:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. for ages 4-12
